Push For Open Carry Comes Up Again In Florida
/in News /by PaskalosState Rep. Matt Gaetz is leading the latest attempt to pass an “open carry” gun law in Florida to repeal the state’s outdated laws on open carry.
In a Facebook post in July, Gaetz – who is seeking the Senate seat held by his father, former Senate President Don Gaetz – called Florida “an outlier” in prohibiting the open carry of firearms.
The Shalimar Republican filed HB 163 on Monday; in part, the bill would allow a person licensed to carry a concealed firearm or weapon to “also openly carry such firearm or weapon.”
“Texas recently made the change and it’s time we change too,” he wrote. “Share if you believe in protecting our 2nd Amendment freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.”
HB 163 (PDF) would allow a concealed carrier to also open carry a firearm, chemical spray, or stun gun.
Furthermore, the bill affirms:
The right to bear arms and defend one’s self is a fundamental and individual right that exists in any place that a person has the right to be, subject only to exceptionally and narrowly tailored restrictions that employ the least possible restriction on the right in order to achieve a compelling government interest.
Miss South Carolina Gives Pro-Gun Answers to Anti-Gun Question in Miss America Pageant
/in News /by PaskalosDuring the Miss America pageant, Miss South Carolina Daja Dial was asked if she would support an assault weapons ban when it was her turn to answer questions during the September 13 Miss America pageant. Dial said she would not support such a measure, and explained that she believes a clearer focus on firearm education is of greater value than gun control.
The question about gun control came from Amy Purdy, who said, “America loves our Second Amendment, but gun violence continues to be a tragic problem. Do you support a ban on military-style assault weapons?”
Dail stated: “I don’t [support such a ban]…we need to increase education. We have to go back there. If we teach people the proper way to use guns, then we will reduce the risk of having gun-related accidents. It starts with education”.
Even before she could finish answering, Dial’s response received massive applause, demonstrating strong support for gun rights despite the establishment’s ongoing gun grabbing campaign.
While the question was crafted to make it seem that gun violence may be on the rise, actual firearm homicide rates are near historic lows, according to Pew Research Center statistics.
Despite not taking the crown Miss Carolina took the fans favorite.

College students are being taught into believing 9/11 was our fault
/in News /by PaskalosFrom the NY POST:
America-hating leftist professors are systematically indoctrinating [students] into believing it’s all our fault, that the US deserved punishment for “imperialism” — and the kids are too young to remember or understand what really happened that horrific day.
Case in point is a freshman-level English class taught at several major universities across the country called “The Literature of 9/11” — which focuses almost entirely on writings from the perspective of the Islamic terrorists, rather than the nearly 3,000 Americans who were slaughtered by them.
The syllabus, which includes books like “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” and “Poems from Guantanamo: Detainees Speak,” portray terrorists as “freedom fighters” driven by oppressive US foreign policies.
Even highly ranked University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has adopted the curriculum. The 9/11 seminar is taught by UNC associate English professor Neel Ahuja, who specializes in “post-colonial studies.”
In Ahuja’s twisted worldview, al Qaeda terrorists are the real victims. “Abu Zubaydah’s torture may be interpreted as simply one more example of the necropower of US imperialism, the power to coerce and kill targeted populations,” Ahuja recently wrote in an academic paper criticizing the war on terror.
He says America’s depiction of the 9/11 terrorists as “monsters” is merely an attempt to “animalize” them as insects and justify “squashing” them in “a fantasy of justice.”
This colonialist “construct” of an “animalized enemy,” he added, “dovetails with the work of mourning the nation after 9/11 (which in the logic of security must be made perpetual, melancholic).” To him, it’s all cynically designed to justify more “imperial violence” against “Muslim, Arab and South Asian men.”
Ahuja goes on to decry the US “colonization” of Afghanistan and northwestern Pakistan, along with “aerial bombing (and) indefinite detention” of al Qaeda terrorists at Gitmo. In other writings, the professor bashes Israel and sides with Palestinian terrorists, further revealing his agenda.
Cuomo: those against gun control “delusional”
/in News /by PaskalosExploiting tragedy has become routine among America’s gun control tycoons. This time, the culprit is Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY).
On Monday morning, the First Deputy Counsel for Empire State Development, Carey Gabay, was shot by a stray bullet during pre-festivities ahead of the Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn. He is currently in critical condition at Kings County Hospital Center. After showing remorse for the terrifying incident, Cuomo swiftly took the opportunity to reintroduce his gun control agenda and shame anyone who doesn’t agree with him as “delusional.”
“How many incidents do we have to have, how many weeks do we have to have with the same story over and over and over about the insanity that this country is allowing to continue with violence and loss of life of innocent people because we have people who have no business having guns, having guns,” Cuomo, a Democrat, told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on Tuesday.
The liberal governor’s objective is to now make a federal gun control initiative law of the land. He is perhaps hoping to expand on his success in getting the SAFE Act passed in the Empire State.
The SAFE Act, which bans the sale of AR-15s, labeled by the Cuomo administration as ‘assault weapons,’ is not as popular as the governor would like to believe. Within the first year of its implementation, over 1,200 felonies had been tallied against gun owners because of the bill’s severely strict guidelines. As you can imagine, gun owners were not happy about it.
Cuomo’s inability to understand the ideology of anyone other than himself was also evident last January, when he said pro-life conservatives weren’t welcome in New York.
Time and research have proven that anti-gun laws are not effective in preventing mass shootings, for criminals still have ways of getting their hands on them. Yet, that won’t stop leftist progressive gun control activists from taking advantage of every unfortunate opportunity to pursue the same failed agenda.
Gun Sales Spike Again, Highest Number of Checks for August Ever
/in News /by PaskalosProgressives and socialist keep stoking the fires of hatred against civil society, and Americans are responding by buying more and more guns.
FBI data suggests gun sales in the U.S. shot up in August after a barrage of high-profile shootings led to renewed calls for stronger firearm laws.
The FBI posted 1.7 million background checks required of gun buyers at federally-licensed dealers — the highest number seen in any August since the checks began in 1998, according to a USA TODAY report published Saturday.
It turns out it was a very busy summer for gun lovers.
The soaring tally comes on the heels of monthly highs for June (1.5 million) and July (1.6 million), a stretch that spanned a series of deadly gun attacks from Charleston to Roanoke.
“Whenever there is a call for gun control, sales increase,” said Larry Keane, general counsel for the firearm industry trade association National Shooting Sports Foundation.
NICS only tracks the number of background checks (including so-called “online” sales and sales from FFLs at gun shows and other venues), not the actual number of guns sold in each transaction. While there is no way of knowing precisely how many firearms there are in the United States, best-guess estimates put the tally at between 300-350 million, with millions more being sold every year.
Calls for more gun control laws by the socialist perceptions of an increase in violent crime, and a general distrust of a federal government that seems to be going rogue are among the key reasons citizens are purchasing more firearms.
Bible Verse Etched in to AR-15 to Keep Muslim Terrorists from Using It
/in News /by PaskalosGun manufacturer Spike’s Tactical has introduced a new AR-15 with a Bible verse etched upon it in order to prevent Muslim terrorists from handling or using the weapon.
Spike’s Tactical is located in Apopka, Florida.
The AR-15 is listed as The Crusader Rifle on the manufacturer’s website, described as a “lightweight mid-length rifle,” built to be used for tactical applications or for competition. The words of Psalm 144:1—”Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle” are etched upon the right side of the gun’s lower, while a cross and shield are etched upon the left side.”
Along the AR-15’s safety lever are the Latin words “Pax Pacis” (Peace), “Bellum” (War), and “Deus Vult” (God Wills It). Peace is the gun’s safe position while “War” is the gun’s fire position.
According to WTSP 10 News, Spike’s Tactical spokesman Ben “Mookie” Thomas explained why the company decided to create the Crusader:
“Right now and as it has been for quite some time, one of the biggest threats in the world is and remains Islamic terrorism. We wanted to make sure we built a weapon that would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists to kill innocent people or advance their radical agenda”.
Mexico Wants More US Gun Control, Pushes International Arms Treaty
/in News /by PaskalosMexico’s theory is that, since any gun in the U.S. might at some point conceivably cross the U.S. border, all U.S. guns have to be controlled in the name of controlling the international arms trade.
But Mexico, the other nations that agree with it, and “progressive” groups that campaigned for the treaty the blame America-first activists, in other words are in this game for the long haul. So it’s not a good sign that Mexico’s been given the job of hosting the first treaty meeting.
It’s even less good that Mexico’s spent much of the past year colluding with the activists to keep skeptics out of the room. Their view was that only true believers who campaigned for the treaty should be allowed to see what’s going on.
You might wonder what they’re afraid of. Civil libertarians and skeptics make no secret of their views. However, if they were always in the room, they’d report on exactly how closely the activists are working with Mexico and other like minded nations.
The activists led by the global Control Arms Coalition, which has a massive presence at Cancún are the only insiders in the treaty process, and they want to keep it that way.
The ATT was adopted through the U.N., which means it was drafted by the world’s nations. That’s bad, because there are lots of incapable and evil governments in the world. But it’s better than the alternative, which was for the ATT to have been drafted solely by the activists.
Now that the treaty exists, however, the activists want to take it over and direct it for their own purposes. What they want is to turn the ATT into an arms control and disarmament treaty.
Keeping skeptics away is part of that campaign.
So far, they’ve not succeeded in keeping them out, or in taking over the treaty. But the ATT isn’t simply a treaty that’s over and done with. Like many treaties, it’s a process that will go on and on, in meeting after meeting, year after year. And the activists have lots of people, lots of money, and lots of time.
The U.S.’s goal in Cancún should be to do whatever it can to prevent the activists from getting any footholds. That means ensuring a treaty secretariat that’s strictly limited in its purposes, conference rules that don’t privilege the activists, and reporting requirements that don’t go beyond current U.S. practice or identify individual U.S. firearms owners.
Because, thankfully, the U.S. hasn’t ratified the ATT, we won’t have a vote in much of what goes on. But that doesn’t mean we lack influence. Let’s hope that America uses it wisely.
Weaponized Police Drones Legal in North Dakota
/in News /by PaskalosA North Dakota law allows police to outfit drones with ‘less-than-lethal’ weapons including stun guns and tear gas. The bill’s original sponsor says he didn’t want weapons of any kind on drones, but that the state law enforcement lobby altered the bill’s language.
A new law passed this week made North Dakota the first state in the US to allow state and local police drones to carry weapons.
House Bill 1328 explicitly forbids lethal weapons aboard police drones, but allows stun guns, beanbag rounds, tear gas, and other “less-than-lethal” weapons to be fitted onto unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The bill’s sponsor originally included language banning police drones from carrying any kind of weapon, but that language was removed at the behest of a representative from the North Dakota Peace Officer’s Association, the state’s law enforcement lobby, before it passed.
The bill’s original sponsor, Rep. Rick Becker (R-Bismarck), said at a hearing in March that he was worried about police using drones to fire remotely on suspected criminals.
“When you’re not on the ground, and you’re making decisions, you’re sort of separate,” he said at the time. Supporters of the current measure say that police drones are generally only used to photograph crime scenes, assist in missing-person searches, and perform other non-criminal duties, and that the less-than-lethal weapons carried by the drones would only be employed in extraordinary circumstances.
The legislation does require police and sheriff’s deputies to obtain a search warrant from a judge before they can use UAVs for surveillance. Police must also retain records on where drones fly, for how long, and for what purpose.
Rep. Becker told Ars Technica that although the law gives North Dakota law enforcement agencies the power to outfit their drones with less-than-lethal weapons, he didn’t know of any that were planning to do so. He also said that he plans to introduce a new bill in 2017 specifically banning police drones from carrying any kind of weapons, including Tasers and other non-lethal weapons.
Mexico Threatens Texas Over Illegal Immigration
/in News /by PaskalosThe Mexican government has told Texas that they had better start issuing birth certificates to the children of illegal immigrants–or risk lousing up the entire relationship between the U.S. government and Mexico.
Mexico has accused Texas of trying to deny citizenship to the so-called “anchor babies”–children born in America to illegal immigrants, who should automatically receive citizenship at birth because of the Fourteenth Amendment.
In order to obtain a birth certificate in Texas, a parent has to show two forms of identification.
But while illegal immigrants may have a Mexican passport, their other form of government-issued ID is a “matricula,” a special identification card given to illegal immigrants by the Mexican consulate.
But Texas does not recognize matriculas as a valid form of identification. Some Texas country registrars offices are even refusing to accept anything short of a U.S. visa or a U.S. ID card in order to obtain a birth certificate.
Right now, a lawsuit has been filed on behalf of six children by their illegal parents, who came from Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.
The lawsuit alleges that Texas is violating the Fourteenth Amendment by denying citizenship to children born on U.S. soil.
But Texas claims the ability to choose which IDs to accept is a state issue, and has claimed that not accepting consulated-issued ID cards, like matriculas, is a long-standing policy.
Attorney Jennifer Harbury, who is representing the illegal immigrant families, said that the issue isn’t just whether or not matriculas should be accepted–but whether or not Texas is being fair.
“The argument is ‘what will you take that people can actually get?’” she said. “They have to take something. [The children] were born here. They are U.S. citizens.”
NSSF Threatens Costly Lawsuit If Seattle Mayor Signs Gun Violence Tax In To Law
/in News /by PaskalosSeattle’s leftist progressive government running on emotions approved a sales tax of $25 on each firearm sold and five cents for each round of ammunition (two cents for .22 caliber).
Washington state preemption laws will lead to the city into a costly lawsuit if Mayor Ed Murray signs the “gun violence tax” in to law violating the state statute.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry, says it intends to file a lawsuit challenging the City of Seattle’s recently NSSF and other pro-gun groups fought the legislation, labeled a “gun violence tax,” but the City Council nevertheless approved the ordinance on August 10. Seattle Mayor Ed Murray has indicated support for the measure. NSSF today sent the mayor a letter urging him to veto the unlawful tax and letting him know that if the law was enacted “NSSF will have no alternative but to file a lawsuit” against the City to invalidate this unlawful regulation of the lawful sale of firearms and ammunition on the grounds that it violates Washington state’s preemption statute that blocks cities from regulating the sale of firearms. Additionally, the letter points out that the tax burdens citizens from exercising their Second Amendment right to purchase a firearm.
“This ordinance will do little to promote public safety and instead will place an undue burden on both federally licensed firearms retailers and law-abiding citizens who want to purchase firearms, particularly people in less well-off circumstances,” said Lawrence G. Keane, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of NSSF. “This law is nothing but a ‘poll tax’ on the Second Amendment and an effort to drive Seattle’s firearms retailers out of business.”
If I were a Seattle taxpayer, I’d be furious that the city council and Mayor Murray are going to force an expensive and apparently doomed lawsuit for what appears to be nothing more or less than political theater.
